THANK YOU.

Is all equipment included?

Yes, all you need to bring is a towel, swim wear and shower stuff.
Portrush Surf School supplies amazing Billabong Wetsuits, Booties, Rash Vests, Gloves and even Hoods for the colder days.

Are Shower facilities included?

Yes, we are based at Portrush Yacht Club where we have fully indoor male and female changing rooms and amazing HOT Showers exclusively for our clients. Some say we have the best facilities in Ireland and the UK!

Do I need to book in advance?

Strongly advisable, yes. You can BOOK ONLINE for Surf Lessons and Paddleboard Lessons.
We are a very popular Surf School running classes with small numbers per session so earlier the best when booking. Though, you can still call and see if we can accommodate you. No worries!

Where will the lesson take place?

We take a short walk from Portrush Yacht Club down onto West Strand Beach, this is where 99% of our lessons happen. In front of Barrys Fun Fair is where we find the most ideal and suitable waves in waist depth water, safe and perfect for teaching.

Do I need to be able to swim?

It helps but its not essential, just let us know when you book if your not confident. All sessions are run in waist depth water so you can always stand up with your feet on the bottom. Safety is one of our highest held standards.

What safety precautions do Portrush Surf School take?

All of our Surf Instructors are Fully Qualified Coaches, RNLI Beach Lifeguards as well as very very experienced Surfers. Full supervision is given during all of our classes. You are in safe hands with TK and his team.

What payment does Portrush Surf School accept?

We accept cash, all major debit/credit cards are accepted when making a booking.

How cold is the water?

To be honest, it is not Hawaii but we are the ONLY Surf School in Northern Ireland to be sponsored by Billabong Wetsuits. We supply amazing winter wetsuits and all the other little items to keep you toasty warm all year round.
In the summer months the water can reach 17-18c and in the winter is can drop to 5c. Heaven!

How many lessons will until I am proficient?

We endeavour to have you standing on a surfboard within your first lesson. It just depends really. We would normally say you will be doing well after 3 or 4 sessions with us.

Where is Portrush Surf School based?

We operate our sessions from Portrush Yacht Club in the main Harbour area of Portrush.
Here we have our changing and shower facilities as well as a Café and Bar. The club is based right next door to the famous Ramore Restaurant Complex where you can have amazing food in the afternoon or evening.
You can try and park in the harbour car park but its usually very busy from 10am each morning.
Parking at West Strand Car Park, East Strand Car Park or Landsdowne Car Park is advisable and it's only a short walk to The Yacht Club.

What times are Portrush Surf School's Surf Lessons?

We run 2 sessions daily. Times depend on the actual activity, for example Surf Lesson or Paddleboard (SUP) Lesson. Sessions details that are available are on our booking system.
We operate a check in and check out time. This ensures you get a full 2 Hours Surfing time in the water.

FOR EXAMPLE: If you are in the 10am to 1pm Lessons you arrive at 10am, we then issue you with your equipment and we try to get the lesson started at 10.30am sharp.
Lesson finishes as 12.30pm (conditions dependent) and then we go back to The Yacht Club to shower and change. You depart The Yacht Club no later than 1pm.
